What is Eyelid Surgery in Dubai?

Eyelid Surgery, or Blepharoplasty, is a procedure that is designed to restore a more youthful, open, and refreshed appearance to aging eyes. As we age, the skin we have loses its elasticity and muscles slacken, in our eyelids this tends to result in the accumulation of loose skin which collects as folds in the upper lids and forms deepening creases in the lower lids. At the same time, there is slackening of the muscle beneath the skin allowing the fat, which cushions the eyes in their sockets, to portrude forward to give the appearance of bagginess.

When to consider an Eye Lift Surgery?

Our eyes and the skin around it is the most delicate part of our bodies. The skin is thin and predisposed to showing signs of aging sooner than other parts of our body. Aging eyelids can affect a person’s self-image as they can appear tired, older, and even sad or angry. Eyelid surgery is designed to rewind these changes and restore a more youthful appearance. For some, the reason for surgery can be medically inclined, when the sagging eyelid obstructs the ability to see.

    Upper Eyelid Surgery

Patients who experience sagging, wrinkled skin on the upper eyelids can opt for an upper eyelid procedure to remove the excess skin, restoring a more youthful shape. It involves an incision made in the natural crease above the eye, through which fat, skin, and adjusting the surrounding muscles are done.

    Lower Eyelid Surgery

For patients who struggle with puffy, sagging appearance under the eyes, this surgical procedure corrects the lower part. Incisions are made on the outer edge of the lower eyelid just beneath the eyelashes or even in some cases inside the eyelid. From there, your doctor will reposition, remove, or restore fat to create a natural contour under the eye.

Combining the procedure with another surgery

Depending on your desired results or concerns our Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons at Lutetia will discuss the option of combining the surgery with a facelift, browlift, or both upper and lower lift.

    How Long is Recovery Time?

Surgical approaches have advanced therefore the majority of the time you no longer require bandages, although you may be given an eye lubricant that can be uncomfortable for some patients.

Scars will fade over time with the carefully planned post-care instructions from your surgeon. Practicing healthy sun habits; sunblock, hat, and sunglasses will help maintain and extend the results.

It is important to note that your surgeon will share detailed instructions on how to take care of your surgical area and any warning symptoms to look out for. The amount of time it takes for recovery varies greatly among patients and this will be discussed based on your particular case.

Things to Consider about Eyelid Surgery

Your surgeon will discuss the different surgery options; depending on your goal, unique anatomy, and the extent of corrections needed, the approach will be mutually agreed on.

This surgery is a long-term solution, creating a youthful appearance. As with other surgeries, there are surgical risks to consider and require discussions with your plastic surgeon.

During your consultation, you and your plastic surgeon will discuss these considerations and the best option that suits your requirements and lifestyle.

    Eyelid Surgery Incisions and Scar

Incision and scar positions depend on the surgical technique you and your surgeon agree on during your consultation. Your surgeon will place the scars in a way that they are concealed by your natural eyelid crease.
